Incorrect spelling, explanation: while the pronunciation of Inchon might not be that far off from Incheon and the difference is quite subtle, this word can’t be considered correct because of the rules of transcription from the Korean alphabet into the Roman alphabet. This variant would probably still be understandable, but Incheon is the only correct and approved anglicized form of this city name.
Correct spelling, explanation: the combination of eo in the names in these kinds of words (think of Seoul or samgyeopsal) is generally associated with transcripted Korean words, as these kinds of transcriptions generally adhere to established rules. This is why the name of the Korean city also needs to be spelled with eo – as Incheon.

Absolutely not true. Prior to 2002 or so, the transliteration system used spelled it Inchon with accent marks. It is only “correct” if you are using the ROK official transliteratin system imposed by Kim Dae Jung – although he refused to use it for HIS name! Many historial references will use the McHune – Reichauser System – neither is “correct” unless you work for the ROKG.
Incheon was known as Inchon prior to South Korea’s adoption of a new Romanization system in 2000., so it would be better to rename it as below
