Correct spelling, explanation: gets is third person singular form of the verb get in present simple tense. An apostrophe before s is used to abbreviate the word is or to express possessiveness, so it cannot be used with verbs. This is why get’s is a mistake and gets is the correct form.
Definition of gets:
verb, third person singular form of get; to receive something, to become
Michael always gets angry when I buy new clothes.
A person who wins the contest gets a video game.
Incorrect spelling, explanation: this form doesn’t exist because apostrophe with s after it is used with nouns (for example to express possessiveness). Get is a verb and gets is its form for third person singular in the present tense. Therefore get’s is incorrect.

My distant, dear, free roaming grammarian,
Thank you for providing this mostly straight forward explanation regarding “get’s” Mostly due to the fact that I am far from ever being fluent in the language that I call “Conscious Grammar”. There was just enough English to make it possible for me to be able to understand what you wrote.
In my thirties, an Educational Psychologist diagnosed me as being dyslexic. When I asked how this was possible, seeing as I could read and write quite well, her reply was that there are many different forms of this condition. Take that, plus an issue regarding storage and retrieval of long term memory, as well as a good dose of Adult ADHD, and you will have created a staunch anti-grammarian. I would much rather agree to pick up a well greased Brown snake, and put it in a bag, then wrestle with the esoteric language of grammar.
Not that I do not get on well with the ever decreasing herds of domesticated grammarians who wander the halls of the educational institutes, for whom I always carry treats in my pockets for whenever I encounter them. I made the discovery that they are rather partial to chocolate, and if I give them sweets like chocolate toffees, we are then both happy because it makes it very difficult for them to attempt to discuss grammar with me.
Naturally enough, I have become quite fond of them, so I was the only anti-grammarian to fight against the suggestion that it was well past time for another cull of these magnificent beasts, from a long past age. Praise God, I proved the victor, however, I will remain vigilant for any signs of another attempted cull, or for that matter poaching.
In fact, I established the first grammarian preserve in 2014, thanks to the many generous donations from the public. It is relatively early days yet, but it seems to be going very well. Currently, I am in negotiations with the South Korean government from whom I hope to secure a breeding couple. Koreans are known for being some of the greatest grammarians of English in the world, closely followed by the Japanese.
The subconscious grasp and manipulation of grammar is a far different matter. If not for that, then I would never have reached a point in time where I could both read and write (I was not able to read until somewhere in the vicinity of twelve years of age.) So, when reviewing my international students’ writing, as it pertains to the requirements of IELTS and becoming future university students, I have somewhat of a gift for spotting errors, especially those of logic. But, with my background, I have the tendency to not rely on myself in every situation, but rather to check by researching it online. Besides, it is very rewarding to see English through fresh eyes, as it often brings to my attention things that I have never thought to question.
Thank you again for your invaluable assistance, and for proving a case in point, that what grammarians offer can be useful.
