It is incorrect to say “kernal” is an incorrect spelling. The core operating code used by Commodore computers is called the “Kernal”[1] (in contrast to the modern use of “Kernel”, as in “Linux Kernel”). Whilst it may have originated due to an error, the fact it is an accepted name would imply it is a correct spelling of the word.
