Correct spelling, explanation: the adjective useful is spelled with one l at the end because it is made from the verb use and suffix -ful, which is spelled with just one l. This suffix gives the meaning full of or with features of; it used to be spelled -full, just like the word of its origin, but with time it was shortened. This is why usefull is a misspelling and useful is the correct form.
Definition of useful:
adjective, something being used for a particular purpose; convenient, handy

This knife is much more useful to chop onions.
Incorrect spelling, explanation: overtime old suffix -full (now -ful) lost the second l and became -ful. This is why while giving the meaning full of, it is written with just one l (unlike its origin). Thus here the correct spelling is useful, not usefull. This is an often mistake because the word full is spelled with double l.

Academics morrons trying to seal pauperization and peasantification of the language. Conclusion is simple: do not be lazy morron – use the usefull not the useLES. And you ladies and gentlemans wannabe linguist and certified bigheads can sit and watch. I have spoken and the word became flesh. Now suck [removed].
I thought language and spelling were defined by common use and acceptance. Languages do evolve and change, but only by common use and acceptance. I have never seen this and it is not archaic by any means. Normal use of the word is still “usefull” and cannot be changed by force of scholars. Keep your master’s degree to yourself and allow the language to follow its natural use in everyday language.
